2022 Hill Family Foundation Update
Christmas and Thanksgiving Holidays are a time to reflect on our lives, a time to serve those less fortunate in our community, a time to give back and give thanks for all our blessings. However, for those dealing with family mental health issues or grieving over loved ones, it can be an especially difficult time of year. We have experienced trauma in our own family this past year, losing our son in this life, Grant Sanders Hill.
Grant was an extraordinary young man in every way at 26 years old, with a 6-7 tall 350lb frame, Alabama SEC Champion, All-American football awards, and national champion track and field honors. Grant set aside NFL and Olympic Team opportunities to instead focus on sharing his faith in Christ and counseling trauma damaged and mentally challenged youth as his life mission and crusade.
Grant Hill had a lifetime dream of changing the mental health care culture and building a Christ-centered mental health care facilities for leaders, athletes and youth needing help in life’s many transitions.
The Hill Family Foundation along with The Grant Hill Memorial Fund are committed to realizing this dream and advancing our dream of quality, Christ-centered, accessible mental health care. Below you will learn all the ways we have begun and will continue on this mission together with the continued encouragement and support from people like you.
Kids To Love Grant Hill Mental Wellness Team – Hill Foundation recently teamed with Kids to Love through a $250,000 commitment to build a Madison, Alabama Mental Wellness Facility. Counselors and mental health experts are now in the selection process to serve at the Madison facility which breaks ground in February 2023. Your contributions will help expand the staff serving the “Grant Hill Wellness Team” with our goal of 10-12 staff in the near term, along with establishing a center in downtown Huntsville to be close to Huntsville City schools. Our vision is a network of professionals which transform the current limited access mental health care culture by sharing information to enable long term healing.
Christ Health Faith-Based Counselor Training – Hill Foundation funded Christ Health and Live Oaks Mental Health Clinic $100,000 to train mental health care professionals on Christ-centered mental health counseling and out-patient recovery. Christ Health has already began filming for construction of 20 master class counseling series to help provide elite mental health care for those ages 12-25 years in age. Our goal is to work closely with Huntsville City Schools, State funded and private health care individuals to provide a network of mental health care professionals to meet the needs of the North Alabama community.
